Vinegar Hill Magazine is excited to announce that we have been accepted into a cohort for Transformation Tech, a groundbreaking program designed to help local news organizations thrive in the digital age.

As part of the 18-month Google News Initiative-funded program, we are receiving comprehensive training and support to develop a sustainable revenue model for our publication. Joining a cohort of 52 Association of Alternative Newsmedia (AAN) members, we are already seeing the positive impact of this initiative.

Key Highlights of the Program

  • Grant Funding: Each participating publisher receives a $20,000 grant, totaling over $1 million for AAN members.
  • Revenue Transformation Plans: We are developing tailored strategies to generate new digital revenue streams, such as SEO improvements, content programs, and even offering digital agency services to local businesses.
  • Comprehensive Training: The program covers essential topics like tech stack auditing, digital revenue generation, change management, and project management.
  • Collaboration and Partnership: Through the Fund for Equity in Local News (FELN), we are collaborating with other news organizations to share best practices and foster a supportive community.

Transformation Tech is a game-changer for independent news outlets like Vinegar Hill Magazine. By providing the necessary tools and resources, we are able to adapt to the evolving media landscape and continue serving our community with high-quality journalism.
